Wilhelm Disc Golf Invitation 2006
The D-man and the LateJC relish in a job well-done. This year's winner: Late JC with one of the best birdies I've ever had the honor to witness.
Hole 16 was his. All his.

Wilhelm Disc Golf Invitation 2006
Only 3 participants in this year's Invitational, despite the many invitations. Oh well, you folks who didn't participate missed out. Big time.
Wilhelm Disc Golf Invitation 2006
An awesome end of the season at Solitude. I didn't have as many pars this week, but fuck it, it was still a great time. Pictured here you might spy my disc which landed nicely right on top of a boulder. Unfortunatley the trees were in the way, necessitating a bogie on my part. I was, however, 10 feet from the hole.

18th Hole (again)
Hole 18 was a hell of a lot easier to play this time, but my flick absolutely sucked. I would go over hand, but I fear a repeat of excruciating disolcation in the shoulderage.
"Par!"
Well I actually had more pars than ever this time and picked up a spectacular birdie on the first hole.
Here LateJC demonstrates that despite the snow (see above) it actually was quite warm.

Hole 10
Late JC and I went up to Solitude. Only one week left! Next week we will conduct the second-annual Wilhelm Invitational.

Flick!
Last week we ventured up to Snowbasin ski resort above Ogden, Utah. The course follows a 2,000 foot vertical drop and is fun. They need to work on hole placement and consider that some holes should be much longer. It is a work out, but well worth it.

Late August Disc-a-ganza
We had a pretty good time up at the 'tude this week. Late JC had the best score and was solid with a birdy right off the bat with hole number 1. Croin was second with a solid game of pars, bogies, and the occastional double bogie. I did ok (my best yet, I think) and had the most number of pars I've ever had. My new style (the flick) wore on my late in the game and I was very much losing it. JuneBug turned in a good score and one must note that this is her first summer engaging in the sport of Czars. (Too many other royals have claimed other sports, so we'll go for the sport of the late Russian Empire.)

TheOrris in a field of flowers
Along with Dustin's disc up at Albion Basin. Great disc and reaction catch by Catinlap.
Sahara Disc Golf
See why we like going to Solitude or setting up the portable basket at other locales?
...and the toss!
This was at Creekside Disc Golf Course, in good old SLCo, Utah, yesterday, July 30th, 2006.
Impromtu discgolf
Along with buying season passes to Snowbird, we also went up to Albion Basin with the portable disc golf basket. These pictures represent our efforts.

Portable Disc Golf
Friend and Discramarian LateJC purchased a portable disc golf target. We took it to the east end of Sugarhouse Park in good old SLC and set it up in one location. We then proceeded to set up tees in various locations in that part of the park. Despite the occasional dog, wandering people, and a ultimate frisbee team we managed to get in a decent game.
We're going to Google Earth a decent course and try to play it.
Here Jeff is teeing off on Hole 1: up a hill and throw some trees.

I'm so excited about my new purchase! Portable disc golf basket! TheOrris takes a practice shot from the front door to the living room.

Fun times!
The crew relaxing after a long disc golf session. The summer growth is getting thick up at the 'Tude now, so we spent alot of time looking for our discs. Croin and I both lost our putters because of an updraft and a ravine shortly after the basket.
Croin takes it to the 'Tude!
The Croin joined us for a round up at Solitude this week along with an unexpected showing of June Bug. It is getting pretty lush up there and we spent more time searching for lost discs. The loss this week was exacerbated by Late JC and Croin sailing hole 8 and ending up in the Abyss with their newly acquired putters. Despite a rigorous search neither Croin nor Late JC could find their putters. Sad.
Your intrepid reporter managed to lose none of his new discs (more on those later) simply because he avoided his nemesis, Main Street or hole 18. Yes it was a pussy-out on my part, but I'm not going to drop $35 in discs on that hole.

Croin steels himself for a hearty day of taking it to the 'Tude.
Late JC lets it fly over Hole 7 appropriately entitled Splash.
Croin takes a flick off Splash.
Your intrepid reporter considers the ultimate in evil, hole 18: pussies out for economic reasons while Late JC looks on.
June Bug eyes hole 18 with an expert eye.
Late JC celebrates an exceptional par on hole 18. June Bug admires his discing prowess.
Our scourage. Shut up or I'll smack you a good one with my newly acquired putter.
(Ok they weren't that great, but I did pick up a par for once. Note that JC got a lot of pars.)

Tragedy on the 18th hole!

Getting there
The lift that takes you up to hole one of the disc golf course at Solitude costs 6 bucks. Implied in the price of the game is also the posibility of lost discs. On the two outings this year I've lost 2 discs--both on the cursed hole 18.
